Whitby, Ontario – On Saturday, July 20, an external electrical power trip and subsequent recovery procedures led to an exceedance of the four-hour rolling average limit for carbon monoxide (CO) at the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC).

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipalities of Durham and York have begun the Environmental Screening Process to increase the amount of waste processed each year at the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC) by 20,000 tonnes.

Whitby, Ontario – On Saturday, May 4, a carbon monoxide (CO) spike led to an exceedance of the four-hour rolling average limit at the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC). The limit is set at 40 mg/Rm³ (milligrams per reference cubic metre). The CO levels were 45 mg/Rm³. CO is monitored as an operational parameter indicating combustion performance at the facility. All other emissions remain within compliance limits.

This is a volunteer position that provides advice to the Works Committee on issues such as waste diversion, waste management, environmental performance and monitoring of the Durham York Energy Centre (energyfrom-waste facility).
